About this talk

During this session, conference participants will learn about the California Youth Leadership Corps, a new partnership between the California Endowment, the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, and the Community Learning Partnership. Practitioners Angélica Esquivel Moreno and Shelia Balque will speak about educational pathways that prepare students with low incomes and students of color for community change careers in their communities. These innovative career pathways at De Anza College and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College offer unique work-based learning opportunities, which include paid internship opportunities at nonprofit organizations, where students gain experience in community organizing and community-based
